"Self Portrait" by Kira Seamon
It is common for artists to do self portraits. I noticed these beautiful shadows on the floor as I was dancing one day in the studio. As my medium is photography, and I am a ballerina, I thought this would be a great way to do a self portrait!!
The legs of a dancer are usually a very important feature in recognizing the unique qualities of a particular dancer, and I thought this would be an innovative way to illustrate that thought!!
I used the effects of light and shadows to throw my legs into an amazing relief, elongating them to create an illusion of a dancer 10 feet tall!!!
The photo gallery below showcases beautiful leg poses in ballet!
Enjoy the beautiful slideshow below!!!!!
You can now buy the book at my Bookstore on Blurb.com!

An AUTUMN CELEBRATION with DANCE, MUSIC & PHOTOGRAPHY was a FANTASTIC SUCCESS!!!! (Please check out slideshows and photos below)...
I am very pleased to debut my newest 1-WOMAN concert:
"NATURE BALLET"... 4 SEASONS + 4 DANCES = UnFOURgettable!!!!
(For a preview, check out the Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter photos in the Slideshow below)
An AUTUMN CELEBRATION with DANCE, MUSIC & PHOTOGRAPHY was a wonderful way to kick off the Holiday Season! Performed on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, this format saw me present 140 of my finest digital Autumn photographs (on a large screen TV) with 3 specially choreographed dances. It was a great success as I received an overwhelmingly good response from the audience (it was standing room only!!!) and many people came up to me afterwards to express their appreciation of my concert, the format, my dancing & my photography!!!
Here are some AWESOME video stills from that performance. It was also the debut of a new concert style, that had never been performed at that venue before, pairing live dance with photography.
Check out these 2 amazing Slideshows of more video stills!!!
Check out these 2 amazing Slideshows of some of the Nature photographs I used in my concert...First see a Slideshow of the original digital photos, then watch a Slideshow of the video stills-giving a sense of how they looked on the large screen TV.

LUCKY NUMBER 7!!!!
Here is the poster for my concert and the photos used for its design.
It will also be the debut of my latest 1-WOMAN concert format! You may remember that I performed my first 1-WOMAN concert there, which combined my award-winning piano performance with my own choreography and dancing...
Keeping on the cutting edge of emerging trends, I will present my unique version of the hot new trend of mixing media in performing arts concerts, creating a multi-media presentation. I am bringing my own flair to this concert and in an artistic tour de force, I am providing both the performing art content and the visual art. Performing artists often outsource the visual art component to other people, providing just the movement part of the concert.
I am "keeping it all in house", so to speak, and am excited to debut my popular nature and wildlife photography!
As you may have read on this website, my Bookstore on Blurb.com (Search: Kira Seamon or dancerpics), has over 40,000 Pageviews!!! AWESOME!!!
Here are some of the photos I will use for my concert. (IN A SLIDESHOW BELOW) INCREDIBLY, just days after being asked to do the concert, I happened upon these beautiful wild turkeys in the parking lot next to where my car was parked! How appropriate for a Thanksgiving concert!!!
HERE a TURKEY, THERE a TURKEY...
I shared my turkey photos on the WEATHER CHANNEL by uploading them to my profile there...Have you seen this? Check out my turkey! (Outdoors & Wildlife)

MY DISCOVERY OF TANGO + CARMEN HABANERA = MAGIC!!!
I have discovered a beautiful artistic and historic link of the Tango to the Carmen Habanera. The Habanera, as a genre, is considered to be related to the tango, but is far older. I have noticed that others seem to have not made that link, as those Carmen productions typically include a solo female dancer performing the Habanera (in the case of ballet/dance productions) or a solo mezzo-soprano singing the aria (in the case of an opera production). EVERYBODY is thinking "solo", so they don't think of unique partnering with a man in "Tango-esque" movements that reference the Habanera's historic relation to the Tango!
It is very exciting to take a piece written over 100 years ago and be able to add a new facet to that famous masterwork...
Think of how many dancers, directors, opera singers, etc... have encountered CARMEN over the last 100 years...
It is very difficult to be able to add your own stamp on a piece so well known!
I am grateful that I was able to make my mark on that work and produce a beautiful artistic link between the TANGO + CARMEN HABANERA!!!
I was honored to have been declared: "Isadora Duncan in a drawing room" by a dance critic after my performance at the prestigious Boston Center for the Arts!
While I believe my style is more balletic than Ms. Duncan, they went on to say that the remark was about my performance quality and impact rather than comparing dance styles.
Check out the stunning "Tango-esque" photos below !
